Venturi wet scrubbers are widely used in industries for air pollution control, effectively capturing fine dust particles, chemical fumes, vapors, and VOCs generated during industrial processes. Their primary advantage lies in their ability to handle high-temperature gas streams while simultaneously removing both particulate matter and gaseous pollutants. By forcing pollutant-laden gas through a venturi throat at high velocity, these scrubbers ensure efficient interaction with the scrubbing liquid, enabling effective pollutant removal. This dual functionality makes Venturi scrubbers a reliable solution for industrial emissions control.
Working Principles
A Venturi scrubber features a converging section, a throat (the narrowest point), and a diffuser. Dust-laden gas accelerates as it flows through the venturi tube, reaching maximum speed in the throat section. The gas then enters the diffuser, where its velocity decreases. Liquid is introduced either in the throat or upstream, enabling intensive mixing between the gas and liquid in the throat. The high-speed interaction creates fine water droplets, ensuring effective particulate and gas capture. This design makes Venturi scrubbers highly efficient for industrial air pollution control.
